Battle in Seven Years War between the French led by the Comte de Clermont, and an English supported Germany army under Ferdinand of Brunswick. The French, with an army of 47,000, were in a strong position, facing Ferdinand with 33,000 men. Ferdinand feinted attacks against the French centre and right, while preparing a flanking attack on the French left, which was successful, and forced the French army to retreat with the lose of over 4,000 men, compared to a German lose of only 1,700. As a result of the battle, the French were unable to to aid their Austrian allies.
