Battle of the Seven Years War. A joint Franco-Austrian army, advancing on Leipzig, found Frederick the Great blocking their path at Rossbach. Frederick feinted a retreat, and the allied army launched into a pursuit, loosing much of their shape. Frederick launched a cavalry attack on the Austrian infantry, scattering them, followed by a general infantry charge by what had appeared to be his retreating army, which routed the remains of the Franco-Austrian force, which lost 3,000 killed and wounded and 5,000 prisoners, and was forced back into Bavaria.
