The Douglas YO-34 was a single experimental aircraft similar to the earlier O-22 but with a Curtiss Conqueror engine. The O-22 used the fuselage of the O-2H, but with a new swept back upper wing and N struts connecting the wings. Two were built, both powered by the Pratt & Whitney R-1340-9 radial engine.
The sole YO-34 was powered by the 600hp Curtiss Conqueror V-1570-11 liquid-cooled inline engine. It was produced in 1929, but the changes weren't introduced into the main production versions.
