The Nakajima Ki-12 was an experimental monoplane fighter aircraft produced in the early 1930s, and which gave Nakajima valuable experience that they used in the design of the Nakajima Ki-27 Army Type 97 Fighter. It was a low-wing monoplane, powered a liquid-cooled Hispano-Suiza 12Ycrs engine, and which was armed with a hub-mounted cannon. Although the Ki-12 didn’t enter production, it did provide a great deal of test data which went into the design of the Nakajima Type P.E., which then became the Ki-27.
